9/10S & 10L visit the 'Shrouds of the Somme'

14th Sep 2018

As it is the centenary of the end of WW1 in November, students will be taking part in a range of celebration events to mark this important moment in our history across the term. The first such event was a visit to the ‘Shrouds of the Somme’ exhibition at Belfast City Hall.

The students travelled by train to Belfast, walked to the City Hall and learned about the importance of remembering the past by witnessing the 'Shrouds of the Somme' exhibition. They observed 3,775 shrouded figures laid out in the Garden of Remembrance at Belfast City Hall. These figures represent those from the Ulster and Irish regiments, or from Belfast, with no known grave, who died during the Battle of the Somme.

They all were incredibly respectful and made the school proud.

Well done!
